If we finally put an end to the prejudices and persecutions that have caused so much bloodshed and suffering, we have to leave behind cultural traditions that justify violence and abuse in the foundational relations between parents and children and between women and men. The acceptance of these violations provides a model for accepting human rights abuses across the board.
