This has been a fulfilling week. Exhausting. Overwhelming. Inventive. Rewarding week. A week for a grateful heart. A week for a tired soul stretched. My mind feels full and my spirit depleted and elated all in one. I have definitely been here before Can you relate?
My favorite kind of relief when I feel this way is closing a book real tight and opening it to some random place. What surprises me is finding that somehow just what I need is there. I know I've mentioned this practice before, but I'm still moved each time I do it when something pops out designed for my moment. Maybe one of you will feel the same.
Tonight I picked The Tao of Leadership by John Heider. I like this book because it has short, meaningful messages, each to its own page. Here is the one that came up:
UNCLUTTER YOUR MIND
"Beginners acquire new theories and techniques until their minds are cluttered with options. Advanced students forget their many options. They allow the theories and techniques they have learned to recede into the background.
Learn to unclutter your mind. Learn to simplify your work.
As you rely less and less on knowing just what to do, your work will become more direct and powerful..."
There is a freeing feeling of just "letting go" of all the input, ideas, trials and knowing of a long week. Clearing out your cache of all the details that filled each moment and opening up fresh space. I also recognize the theme here of clearing out --- opening the way for the new to come in.
Tomorrow a new day.
How blessed we are to have them.
I will start it with remember my post last week a beginners mind moving ever closer to being an advanced student.
How about you? How are you ending your week? How will you begin again?
